If you are looking for things to do Keepers Lodge is within easy walking distance of the village, Castle Combe, the prettiest village in England. The medieval village of Castle Combe dates back pre 12th Century and has been unchanged for 400 years (except for the addition of double yellow lines). There are no street lights or overhead cables.
There are a number of walks through the Castle Combe valleys, following the Bybrook river throughbeautiful Wiltshire countryside. The famous MacMillan Way passes just a couple of miles from Keepers Lodge, one route takes you on a 2 hour round trip to Ford, where you will find another pub The White Hart.
Castle Combe is a very popular destination for tourists and local people alike. The village is most famous for some of the films such as the original Dr Dolittle, Stardust, The Werewolf, War Horse & most recently ITV’s drama Dr Thorne.
Eating in and around Castle Combe
The White Hart and The Castle Inn are the in the centre of the village offering food all day. You have The Manor House Hotel with Michelin Star fine dining in the hotel’s Bybrook Restaurant. A few miles away in Colerne you will find Lucknham Park hotel and Spa another Michelin Star fine dining restaurant.

Bath is just 20 minutes away by car where a superb selection of excellent bars and restaurants can be found. Alternatively, there is a direct Train from Chippenham Railway Station.
Golf at Castle Combe

The fabulous Georgian city of Bath is just 9 miles away and has superb shopping plus steeped in history.
Of course, the famous Castle Combe Circuit is only a mile away.

Other places of interest
The National Trust village of Lacock with it’s beautiful abbey is a 5 minute drive away. This is another Wiltshire village that regularly plays host to films crews. Harry Potter – Chamber of Secrets, Cranford and Pride and Prejudice have all been filmed there.
The town of Tetbury is situated around 25 minutes away. As you’d expect, the local town of Prince Charles has some beautiful shops and is known for it’s Antiques. You will also find Highgrove Shop & Highgrove Royal Gardens.
